Common questions
Choosing
Do I need both books?
You can start with the Workbook alone. It works with any planner or calendar you already keep, and it's undated, so it begins whenever you do.
The Planner is built to follow the Workbook. The Workbook is where you work out what you want in each sub-dimension, why it matters and how, and set the priorities and weekly plans that the Planner gives a day. A light first pass is enough to begin.
The Workbook gives the Planner its direction. The Planner gives the Workbook its days. Together they cost £9.95 less than the two bought separately: £69.95 for the pair.
How much time does it take?
How long is yours to choose: you decide it on My Planner Rhythm (Workbook p.13). More time lets you go deeper, and even a few minutes every day adds up to a great deal over time.
A daily page takes about a quarter to half an hour, at whatever time fits: morning, midday or evening. All fourteen sub-dimensions are printed on every daily page so nothing disappears from view, but you are not asked to fill all fourteen: some will be quiet for a while. On the fullest days, four minutes is enough: one priority and one line of gratitude in each dimension.
Once a week, The Week in Every Dimension takes half an hour to an hour: it looks back across all fourteen and sets next week’s four priorities. The scoring is optional.
In the Workbook, a light first pass is enough to begin. After that, about an hour a week lets you revisit your Goals & Plan pages, one sub-dimension at a time. Consistency matters more than completeness.
What if I miss days?
A missed day breaks nothing. The Planner's Missed Day Rule says so plainly: some days, even four minutes won't happen, and that's fine. There's no need to go back to fill the gap unless you want to. You can just turn to today's date and continue. This works because you return, not because you never miss.
When does the Planner start?
On 1 January 2027. The Workbook is undated, so it can begin now: a light first pass before January gives the Planner its direction. Later in the year, you turn to today's date and begin there, and the earlier pages can stay blank.
Does the Workbook carry into later years?
Yes. It's undated, so it carries into any year. Each year you repeat your Life Review and update your Life Shape in a new colour, so you can see how your life has changed: four years fit on the same chart.
Does it replace my diary or calendar?
No. There are no hours on the Planner's pages, so it works alongside any calendar you already keep. Each day has one page: Top Priorities and Gratitude in each of the four dimensions, room to write under all fourteen sub-dimensions and a line to catch the day in a sentence. Your work is in one sub-dimension of fourteen, Career & Networking, and the other thirteen sit beside it. The line at the top of each page reads Focus on what matters today, not everything.
Is it for me if I have no children, or no faith?
Yes. Raising & Guiding is supporting and guiding those in your care, and the Workbook's own examples are raising children, mentoring others and caring for pets. Spiritual is your connection to stillness, meaning and inner peace: a practice might be prayer or a service, meditation, music, time in nature or simply stillness. It may also be something entirely your own. You are not asked to fill all fourteen, and a sub-dimension can stay quiet.
Do the books give advice?
No. Each title page says: “This book is for reflection and planning, not medical, psychological or financial advice.
Can I see inside before I buy?
Yes. Each product page shows pages from inside the book. What shape is your life? sends two pages from the Workbook free by email, as a PDF to print: My Life Review and My Life Shape. You rate each sub-dimension from 1 to 10, then plot the shape your life has right now.
How big and heavy are the books?
Both are A4 (210 × 297 mm), printed on 89 gsm white uncoated paper. The Workbook is a 122-page paperback of about 0.35 kg. The Planner has 460 pages, coil bound so every page lies flat, and weighs about 1.2 kg: a book for the desk rather than the bag.
How is the Workbook on Amazon different?
The Workbook on Amazon is a US Letter edition (8.5 × 11 in): the same 122 pages and page numbers, set at 95% on a wider page, so its writing lines run longer and its word lists hold more words. Its list price on Amazon.co.uk is £24.95; the A4 edition here is £29.95 and matches the Planner's size. The Planner isn't on Amazon, which doesn't print coil-bound books.
Is there a digital or PDF version?
No: both books are printed on paper. What shape is your life? sends two pages from the Workbook as a free PDF: My Life Review and My Life Shape.
Using the books
I have the books: where do I start?
In the Workbook, Start Here is p.7, and a light first pass through each dimension is enough to begin; you can go deeper each time you return. In the Planner, The Four Rules (p.4) and How to Use Your Dimension Daily Planner (p.6) come before the daily pages, which begin on 1 January.
How does the weekly score work?
It’s optional. On The Week in Every Dimension, each of the fourteen sub-dimensions scores 0 to 3, from Quiet to Deep, and each of the four priorities 0 to 2, so a week is scored out of 50. If you keep it, The Shape of Your Year draws all fifty-three weeks on one page. The score isn’t a grade. It’s a map.
Which pens work best?
A ballpoint, gel pen, fineliner or pencil suits the paper. Felt-tips, highlighters and markers show through to the other side, as does any heavily inked mark. The Workbook suggests pencil, so nothing is fixed: your answers will change as your life does.
Ordering and delivery
Where do you deliver, and how long does it take?
